In it's hay day the hotel hosted many travellers, including (allegedly) Royal visitors. Once, even a farmers thirsty horse called Boertjie visited the hotel's bar, but that's a tale for another day. According to local storytellers the hotel was bought by the ACVV (Afrikaanse Christelike Vrouevereniging) in the 1980s to be converted into a retirement home for the community.  Since Richmond is such a favourite stopover town for tourists, we wanted to merge the functionality of a retirement home with the glorious hay day of the hotel's past.
